How It Works

01

Free Consultation & Site Visit

We come to you. During the site visit, we take measurements, talk through how you use the space, and figure out exactly what you need — and what you don’t. This is where the design actually starts, not in a catalog.

02

Custom Design & Detailed Quote

We put together a design plan and a line-by-line quote. You’ll see what you’re getting, what materials we’re using, and what it costs before anything gets built. No surprises.

03

Build & Installation

Michael handles the work personally. We show up on time, keep your home clean while we work, and install with the precision that finish carpentry requires. Most built-in projects are completed in one to three days.

04

Final Walkthrough

We do a walkthrough with you at the end. If anything needs adjusting, we handle it on the spot.

Types of Custom Built-Ins We Build

Built-ins aren’t a single thing — they’re a category that covers almost any room in the house. Here’s where we work most often.

Built-In Bookshelves & Display Shelving

A built-in bookshelf does what no freestanding shelf can: it fills the wall exactly, anchors the room, and looks like it was designed that way from the start. Whether you want floor-to-ceiling shelving on either side of a fireplace or a single reading nook alcove, we’ll build it to the dimensions of your space with the finish detail your home deserves.

Entertainment Centers & Media Built-Ins

Custom entertainment centers built around your actual TV size, component stack, and storage needs — not a showroom floor model that almost fits. We can incorporate cord management, cabinet doors to hide equipment, adjustable shelving, and integrated lighting. The result looks built-in because it is.

Fireplace Surrounds & Flanking Built-Ins

The space on either side of a fireplace is one of the most common places a room feels unfinished. Flanking built-ins — cabinets below, open shelving above — frame the fireplace and give the room a focal point that ties everything together. We build these to complement your existing fireplace surround or as part of a full fireplace wall redesign.

Home Office Built-Ins

A built-in desk and shelving system turns an underused room or awkward corner into a workspace that actually functions. We build home office built-ins with file drawers, adjustable shelf configurations, keyboard trays, and whatever else your workflow requires. Clean lines, no assembly required, and it won’t wobble when you type.

Window Seats & Bench Built-Ins

A window seat with storage underneath turns an awkward bump-out or bay window into one of the most-used spots in the house. We build bench built-ins with lift-top or drawer storage, cushion ledges, and flanking shelves or cabinets if the space calls for it.

Mudroom & Entryway Built-Ins

A purpose-built entryway does a lot for a home’s daily function. Cubbies, hooks, bench seating, and cabinet storage — all built into the wall rather than fighting for floor space.

Why Custom Instead of Furniture?

Freestanding furniture has its place, but it has real limitations — it’s built to standard dimensions, it moves, it leaves gaps at the ceiling and floor, and it can’t adapt to rooms that aren’t standard-shaped.

Custom built-ins are designed for your space. For older homes in the Tri-Cities especially, where rooms often have unusual dimensions and lots of character, custom work is usually the only way to get something that actually looks right.

This is the absolute best company you can work with! Both Michael and Christi really get involved and listen to what you’re trying to do before they start. Their prices are very fair and the work is unbelievable!!We put in a secret bookcase door in my basement that WOWs people every time they see it!

Frequently Asked Questions

What rooms can you build built-ins for?

Any room in the house. Our most common projects are living rooms, home offices, bedrooms, entryways, and dining rooms — but if you have a space that needs it, we can design for it.

Can you match the existing trim and style of my home?

Yes. Matching existing trim profiles, paint colors, and finish details is standard for us. Built-ins should look like they were always part of the house, not added later.

How long does a built-in project take?

Most built-in installations run one to three days on-site depending on the size and complexity. We'll give you a clear timeline at the quote stage.

Do built-ins add home value?

Generally, yes. Built-in shelving, entertainment centers, and home office systems are features that buyers consistently respond to, particularly in the Tri-Cities market where homes with strong functional details stand out.

What does a custom built-in cost?

It varies significantly by project size and complexity. The best way to get an accurate number is a free site visit — call us at (423) 444-3462.

Do you build built-ins for new construction or just remodels?

Both. We work with homeowners finishing a new build and with homeowners upgrading an existing home. The process is the same either way.
